The Skiffy and Fanty Show is a Hugo-finalist podcast founded and co-hosted by Shaun Duke and currently produced and co-hosted by Jen Zink. Additional primary hosts include Julia Rios, Paul Weimer, Mike Underwood, David Annandale, and Alex Acks. Or, as they’re affectionately designated on Twitter: an army of Robogoblins. The show covers anything and everything related to the science fiction and fantasy genres, with commentary on controversial topics and news in literature, film, and interviews with authors, scientists, and filmmakers. Furthermore, our blog team (which also crosses over into podcast hosting), including Paul Weimer, Stina Leicht, Kate Sherrod, Jen Zink, Daniel Haeusser, Joyce Chng, Becca Evans, Penny Reeve, Stephen Geigen-Miller, and Elizabeth Fitzgerald, produces high quality book reviews and commentary on science fiction and fantasy topics.

In 2014, we ran the World SF Tour, a year long exploration of sf/f literature and film from outside of the United States. Our recurrent theme is “Women and Non-Binary in SF/F,” which formed the focus of our 2015 season. In 2017, our primary focus is “Inclusion in SF/F”.

The podcast consists of multiple formats, including:

  • Discussions
  • Interviews
  • Shoot the WISB (discussions of films and television shows)
  • Torture Cinema (discussions of bad sf/f films with a heavy dose of comedy)
  • Reading Rangers (discussions of books)
  • Signal Boost (Boosting signals of podcasters, bloggers, artists, writers, etc.)

Our show is supported entirely by listeners and is not sponsored upfront — it’s an entirely fan venture, though we wish we could make a living doing this.
